Oct 1- 4
This week in music, Gr 1- 4 students focused on reading, writing and performing rhythm patterns. Through playing rhythm games and using instruments to play various patterns, students gained confidence in their note reading ability. At the end of the week they began writing their own 20 measure rhythm composition that they will perform for each other on Tuesday October 8th. Gr 1/2 students used rhythms containing quarter, eighth and half notes (and rests), and Gr 3/4's added sixteen note patterns to their compositions.
Kindergarten students have also been learning about rhythm and are able to read and play patterns containing quarter and eighth notes (ta and ti ti). This week they learned to accompany their singing to the new song "Pumpkin pumpkin", on the xylophones. They continue to explore low and high sounds in music and in their environment. Ask your child about Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear.
Performing Arts club will be starting on Tuesday October 15th. The Performing Arts Club provides an opportunity for students to explore music, dance and drama and is open to students from grade two to four. Letters went home on Thursday to students who expressed interest in joining.
